What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Social Media Insights is a key enabler of communication strategy across RBC's Brand, Marketing, Communications and Citizenship (BMCC) group.

The role is responsible for providing relevant and in-the-moment insights on social media themes and conversations that impact RBC to help leaders make data-backed communications and marketing decisions from a brand enhancement and reputational risk mitigation perspective.

What will you do?

Provide value-add and actionable social media reporting, analysis and insights to enhance and protect RBC's brand reputation

Key contributor to the Media Relations + Social Insights (MR+SI) intelligence program whose primary responsibility is to uncover and report on social media insights to help shape Corporate Communications strategies and decision making with brand and reputational significance to the bank.

This will include : Identifying, aggregating and distilling social media monitoring data into meaningful insights and intelligence reports for stakeholders across the bank, including senior leaders, to enhance and protect RBC's brand and reputation.

Monitoring social media landscape and traditional media environment, identifying and synthesizing emerging reputational themes, and sharing actionable insights with decision makers.

Actively contributing to the MR+SI team's approach to early identification, monitoring, analyzing and reporting on global trends and risks that could impact the bank.

Partnering with various Corporate Communications stakeholders to track evolving key brand reputation drivers and communications priorities while providing advice and guidance on external social media environment and opportunities.

Staying connecting with other relevant teams across the bank, including Client Care, Corporate Security, Investor Relations, Government Relations, and various monitoring and intelligence teams to bring a holistic view to insights-based reports.

Overseeing and managing social media monitoring platforms and refining key search criteria.

Enhance MR+SI's social monitoring and insights capability

Continually explore new ways to elevate the impact of the reporting the Media Relations + Social Insights team delivers.

This will include : Leveraging the full capabilities of our monitoring platform and innovating in our social media reporting and analysis.

Managing relationships with external vendors, including our social media listening platforms.Evaluating suitability and efficiency of services and analyzing contracts to identify potential cost savings and efficiencies.

Mentoring and supporting team colleagues in in the delivery of impactful reporting, data gathering and analysis.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have :

  • Well-defined expertise in social media-related data measurement and analysis within a corporate communications, marketing or public affairs capacity
  • A proven track record of distilling data and translating it into succinct, easy-to-understand insights and recommendations for key stakeholders.
  • Clear and concise writing and reporting style that simplifies the complicated and answers the question "so what?"
  • Exceptional research capabilities and an ability to connect the dots when it comes to social media conversations and an organization's brand and reputation.
  • Passion for news / current events and interest in a wide range of topics and industries
  • Excellent data visualization skills with the ability to produce charts and graphs that make an impact and bring insights to life.
  • Highly adaptable and collaborative with the ability to apply a sense of urgency in meeting tight deadlines and analyzing emerging traditional and social media content of relevance to RBC.
