Position Summary The Junior Project Accountant plays an impactful role in the success of the project's financial reporting and management.
The Junior Project Accountant will help the Project Team understand whether the financial metrics of a project are on track (within budget) and profitable. Key Responsibilities
- Understand project contract terms and billing requirements to effectively set up a new project in the accounting system.
- Enter the project budget in the accounting system at the start of the project once it has been reviewed and approved by the project management team.
- Ensure client change orders and subcontractor change orders are entered in the accounting system and coded correctly once they have been approved for processing by the project management team.
- Prepare draft and final invoices for billable projects, including all applicable backup for approval by the Accounting Manager.
- Communicate with Project Managers with monthly project variances and resolution of issues.
- Review all sub-consultant invoices to proper coding, ensure sub-consultant invoices included on the monthly client billing are posted in a timely manner.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education & Experience Preferable experience includes :
- Relevant university degree or college diploma with an accounting focus.
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience with invoicing and accounts receivable.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good time-management skills, the ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience in a multi-currency environment an asset.
- Excellent computer skills, specifically with Excel.
