Controller | Downtown Vancouver (Hybrid)
Our client, a well-established and growing organization in Downtown Vancouver, is seeking a Controller to join their finance team in a hybrid capacity.
This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative finance leader with a strong public practice foundation and industry experience overseeing accounting and financial reporting for a multi-entity organization. Reporting to senior leadership, the Controller will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of the financial reporting while driving process improvements, efficiencies, and the continued evolution of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting function, including month-end and year-end close.
• Lead the consolidation and preparation of monthly financial statements for a group of companies in accordance with ASPE.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning in collaboration with senior leadership.
• Oversee reconciliations, working papers, financial controls, and general ledger integrity.
• Coordinate the annual external audit, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen reporting and controls.
• Champion the use of AI, automation, and technology to streamline finance processes and reporting.
• Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams on business initiatives and ad hoc projects.
Ideal Background
• CPA designation with a strong public practice foundation and ideally 1–3+ years of industry experience.
• Experience overseeing accounting and/or financial reporting for a multi-entity organization, including consolidations.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE and Canadian accounting standards.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Demonstrated success identifying and implementing process improvements and efficiencies.
• Experience working with external auditors.
• Exposure to AI, automation, or finance technology is an asset.
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• A hands-on, collaborative leadership style with the ability to operate strategically and tactically.
