Sheet Metal Estimator
We are seeking a Sheet Metal Estimator to join our high-achieving and hard-working estimating team in Brampton, ON. As the Sheet Metal Estimator, you will work within the team to prepare for, assemble and submit tender prices for various projects of all sizes and scope.
The Estimator will be responsible to prepare, record, and maintain pricing and assist the management team in the ongoing pursuit and acquisition of construction projects.
Through the development of the estimate, the Estimator sets the basis for the projects teams’ success by breaking the project into logical areas with labour and cost breakdowns.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Performing quantity takeoffs including entry into the computer estimating system.
- Reviewing all bid documents to ensure all bid requirements are met.
- Assemble all elements of an estimate including labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Preparing bid forms and submissions for a tender call or proposal.
- Calculate a final figure for the estimated cost, supplemented by adjustments for overheads a profit.
- Present bid package with tender price for clients following their specifications.
- Participates in the presentation of estimates / proposals to senior management.
- Attends and participates in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-bid meetings as required.
Qualifications and Job Requirements :
- Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or construction technology or other relevant technical field or extensive experience in a mechanical contracting trade.
- 2+ years of extensive, practical, and successful experience in organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for construction projects working in both the subcontractor and prime contractor capacity
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience in using Quick Pen, sheet metal estimating software would be an asset
- Understanding of SMACNA and Sheet Metal Construction Standards and ability to identify conflicts on drawings during the estimate phase of the project
- Excellent time management skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
