WHO WE ARE
When it comes to health, we’re always looking for waysto push for better. It’s why we were founded in the first place. In 1957, our founder, pharmacist William Wilkinson, witnessed a mother sacrifice her health by forgoing her own medicine to pay for her sick daughter’s prescription. He knew there had to be a better way. So, he introduced North America’s first prepaid drug plan, and GreenShield was born as a not-for-profit with a mission to support better health for all Canadians.

We aren’t just a health and benefits company. We’re the only not-for-profit social enterprise that brings worlds of coverage and care together, all in one place.
We’re noble challengers, purposefully building a better way and we need the best people to help us create a more holistic approach that takes care of the mind and body.

Our mission is to create better health for all Canadians, and we know that starts with our employees.

THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

The Specialty Infusion Nurse is responsible for administering specialty medications via IV infusion, injection, or oral routes to patients in a clinical setting. Working under the direction of the Manager, Infusion Services & Clinical Practice, this role ensures the safe and effective delivery of complex therapies in alignment with established protocols and standards of nursing practice. The ideal candidate brings a high level of clinical expertise, flexibility, and a patient-centered approach to care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer specialty biologic and pharmaceutical therapies in a clinic environment (including IV infusions, SC/IM injections, and oral medications) in accordance with program protocols and product monographs.
  • Conduct thorough pre-treatment assessments and ongoing monitoring during and after infusions to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Accurately complete documentation, including infusion records, adverse event reports, and nursing assessments, in compliance with regulatory and clinic standards.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on medication, expected outcomes, side effects, and post-treatment care.
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacists, case managers, and administrative staff.
  • Participate in regular training sessions and maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical protocols and specialty medications.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of clinic equipment, supplies, and infection control practices.
  • Communicate scheduling and drug delivery requirements to patients and partners as needed.
  • Travel to other local clinics may be required occasionally to support operational needs.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, nursing SOPs, and Health and Safety protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience; infusion therapy, acute care, or specialty pharma experience preferred.
  • Certification in BLS (required); ACLS, CVAA, and PALS considered strong assets.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word), and EMR systems.
  • Familiarity with adverse event reporting and pharmacovigilance protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team-based model with strong problem-solving and clinical judgment skills.
  • Demonstrated patient-centered communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as occasional travel may be required.
