Intermediate Scientist/EA Practitioner

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our Atlantic Environmental Assessment and Permitting team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia .

Primary responsibilities will be to provide support on a wide variety of projects as delegated by senior staff within the group.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and execution of :
• Environmental permit applications
• Environmental assessments
• Familiarity, or knowledge of : wetland assessments, terrestrial biological studies, and / or estuary / marine biological studies
• Preparation of proposals and technical reports

Key requirements include :

• University Degree in Biology or Environmental Science, however applicants with technical diplomas may be considered
• 2-5 years' experience
• Solid technical and / or academic background in biological sciences
• Experience with some or all of the following :
• environmental resources surveys and analysis including aquatic and marine sciences : (fish community, benthic invertebrate and sediment sampling, water quality sampling, area-velocity discharge measurements and fish habitat mapping), and / or
• Terrestrial sciences : wetland delineations, botany, fauna surveys
• Strong computer, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to
• work in Canada with a valid Canadian driver's license
• work effectively as a member of a team, and also independently with minimal supervision and direction
• demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills
• demonstrate an existing strong commitment to personal / professional development and Health & Safety policies and procedures.
