Health Care Aide
Your Opportunity :
The HCA provides patient centered care as a key member of a collaborative team. A health care professional (usually an RN, RPN or LPN) is responsible for HCA supervision, assignment of care, and ongoing evaluation of care.
The HCA is responsible to follow the care plan using their knowledge, skills and abilities to provide safe and competent care.
The HCA will request guidance from the health care professional when they do not feel competent to perform the assigned task or when they need assistance (CARNA, 2010).
The HCA is expected to follow AHS values, principles, and code of conduct and must comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and AHS policies, procedures and guidelines.
Description :
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support.
You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities.
You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications :
Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum;
and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered.
Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications :
Certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum.
Evidence required upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications :
Previous experience as a Health Care Aide is an asset.Knowledge of computer applications is an asset.
