Your business & team

Group Audit & Assurance (GA&A) provide independent, objective, and commercial risk focused assurance to the Board Audit Committee to assist the Group in securing and enhancing the financial wellbeing of its stakeholders.

GA&A were recognised by Ernst & Young and PwC as the leading internal audit function among Australian peers in the financial services industry.

The Models, Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Audit team is a team within GA&A, focusing on Model Risk, Data & AI across CBA.

The Models, Data & AI team reviews the effectiveness of the processes, controls and governance that seek to mitigate the risks associated with our internal, external, and regulatory obligations for these risks.

In addition, your team will provide support for Business Audit teams and provide expert knowledge.

Your role

As a Senior Audit Manager for Models, AI, and Data, you will be part of a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) with a strong background in Model Risk, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Management.

You and your team will provide objective assurance on the risks and controls and work closely together with the business audit teams to ensure adequate coverage is provided.

Further, you will closely liaise with risk stewards, the relevant departments and line 2 to ensure appropriate coverage and continuously monitor the business.

Your responsibilities

Active management of reviews assessing Artificial Intelligence models and traditional models for accuracy, performance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with bank policies and risk appetite

Identify and evaluate model risks related to data, robustness, biases; ensure compliance.

Design and execute validation testing to challenge model assumptions and outcomes.

Ensure audit activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Collaborate with model developers and business teams to build risk-aware culture and provide guidance.

Deliver pragmatic insights, findings and improvement recommendations to stakeholders and governance committees.

Maintain relationships with leadership and regulators to progress strategic model governance.

Advise senior leadership on emerging AI risks and how to manage them.

Maintain strong relationships with the GA&A leadership team, Regulators and External Audit to gain input and buy-in to strategic initiatives.

Your experience

We are interested in hearing from people who have :

Hands-on experience in developing, validating and reviewing models.

Academic background in quantitative fields like engineering, mathematics, quantitative finance

Strong understanding of the landscape of Artificial Intelligence and model risk management including local and international regulations

Proven leadership managing audit teams and projects with model governance focus.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess model risks.

Ability to simplify complex model concepts and effectively communicate insights.

Strong project execution skills to deliver across competing priorities.

Relationship management skills to collaborate with stakeholders.

Tertiary Qualifications hold a tertiary qualification in engineering, finance, or an equivalent business-related discipline.
