Job Summary:

This position reports to the Manager, Product Management and supports Direct Energy’s product development and delivery efforts across core, cross-serve, and digital acquisition and retention initiatives in the Alberta residential market. Core initiatives include our primary energy offerings, while cross-serve encompasses adjacent and complementary services that enhance the overall customer experience. This role also supports digital initiatives aimed at attracting new customers and improving retention through optimized journeys and performance tracking.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a desire to grow in product management. You’ll apply data-driven thinking to help shape product direction, optimize customer journeys, and inform decisions that improve both customer experience and business outcomes.

The Associate Product Manager will work closely with product leads to help translate strategy into action by managing day-to-day execution details, coordinating cross-functional inputs, surfacing insights, and tracking progress across multiple products and workstreams. With a strong foundation in analytics and a passion for organization and detail, this individual will play a key role in bringing customer-focused products to market, keeping teams aligned, and driving informed decision-making.

Acting as a highly adaptable and hands-on contributor—part analyst, part planner, part facilitator—the APM will support the full product lifecycle. From shaping new product ideas to supporting go-to-market activities and conducting post-launch analysis, this role is well-suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and is eager to grow their product management skill set while delivering meaningful impact for customers and the business.

This is an ideal role for a motivated self-starter looking to build their product management career while gaining exposure to a broad portfolio of work in a dynamic, customer-centric product environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Act as a right hand to the Manager of Product Management, helping to manage and move forward high-priority initiatives across core energy products, cross-serve offerings, and digital journeys

• Support the product development lifecycle from discovery through execution by organizing workstreams, tracking deliverables, and ensuring follow-through on action items, while contributing directly to product artifacts such as opportunity assessments, competitive analysis, product requirement documents, customer journey maps, empathy maps, and personas.

• Support product and feature development by conducting ad hoc analyses, quantitative deep dives, and synthesizing qualitative insights to inform decisions, prioritize enhancements, and contribute to the definition and delivery of product solutions.

• Analyze product performance data to uncover trends and support decision-making (e.g., adoption, churn, conversions, NPS, etc.)

• Help define success metrics, monitor KPIs, and assist in building reporting dashboards in partnership with analysts and digital teams

• Conduct customer, competitive, and market research to inform roadmap prioritization and feature development

• Assist in the ideation, implementation, and analysis of A/B tests and other experiments to validate hypotheses, measure impact, and drive continuous optimization of product experiences.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Digital, Legal, and Operations teams to drive alignment and execution

• Support documentation, stakeholder updates, and communications to ensure visibility and clarity across initiatives

• Bring structure and organization to ambiguous or evolving projects, helping to simplify and clarify next steps

• Contribute to the creation and refinement of product roadmaps by organizing and assessing feature ideas, business cases, and customer insights

• Support go-to-market readiness by coordinating with cross-functional teams on launch materials, timelines, and training needs

• Assist in identifying operational and digital pain points within customer journeys and contribute to ideating improvements

• Take ownership of documenting key product decisions, dependencies, and post-launch results to ensure a clear record of product evolution and lessons learned

Working Conditions:

• Primarily an office-based environment (hybrid model)

• Some overtime may be required to support deliverables or special projects

• Minimal travel (<10%)

Minimum Requirements:

• A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

• 2+ years of experience in a product, project coordination, analytics, or digital operations role.

• Experience with Excel, data analysis, and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI)

• Foundational knowledge of querying (e.g., SQL) is an asset

• Exceptional organization skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on details

• A collaborative working style, with strong communication and relationship-building skills
