It is within this exciting context that the City of Hamilton is seeking its next City Clerk .
Reporting to the General Manager of Finance & Corporate Services, the City Clerk provides strategic and operational leadership in the delivery of service through the City Clerk’s Office, Council / Committee Secretariat Services, Freedom of Information and Records Management, and corporate Print and Mail Services, and administers Municipal and School Board Elections on behalf of the City.
The City Clerk must demonstrate proactive leadership in recommending broad policies and long-range strategies in the delivery of services to achieve City goals and objectives.
As an ideal candidate, you bring demonstrable knowledge and experience in the delivery of Legislative Services, ideally gained through progressive roles in another large and complex municipality.
You consistently demonstrate strong cross-functional leadership capability and skill in balancing the diverse needs of both peers and Council as you steward a progressive organization that is highly customer-centric, embraces innovation and technology, and is passionate in its desire to provide quality services in a timely and cost-effective manner.
You have a proven ability to implement a best practices approach to designing, developing, and implementing strategies to lead program change and improve effectiveness and efficiency.
You are an outstanding communicator and relationship builder, highly respected for your political acumen, integrity, visibility, diplomacy, and bent to collaboration.
An engaging and transparent team leader skilled at assessing, motivating, and empowering staff towards a culture of client service excellence, positive, fair, flexible, resilient and results-oriented are all terms peers would use to describe you.
A CMO or AMCT designation from the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO) is an asset.
