Our client is seeking a Program Portfolio Lead. This key role involves supporting the management and growth of Delegated Underwriting Authorities (DUA), playing a crucial role in quality control, analysis, portfolio underwriting, risk management, and business development.
Candidate Profile :
The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, results-oriented, adaptable, collaborative, and thrives in dynamic environments. They should possess extensive experience in underwriting a variety of commercial segments and products, with specialized expertise in DUA lifecycle management.
This includes initial due diligence, contract development, process development, onboarding, monitoring / auditing, optimizing, and, if necessary, exit strategies.
The candidate should be adept at analyzing and manipulating large datasets and have a proven track record of effective communication, influencing skills, and building valuable relationships with distribution partners to support strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities Include :
- Engaging with program partners to build and maintain positive relationships, driving strategic outcomes, and optimizing growth opportunities.
- Developing and managing well-structured processes for quality control, ensuring compliance with internal, legal, and regulatory standards.
- Developing audit structures, performing regular program audits, extracting insights, and providing recommendations to senior management.
- Analyzing portfolio data to inform underwriting decisions, risk management strategies, and business development opportunities.
Providing quarterly analysis and reporting of program KPIs.
Reviewing and approving risks outside of DUA authorities and monitoring program claims activity, including approving payments as needed.
Required Qualifications and Skills :
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Program (DUA) Underwriting and Portfolio management.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial underwriting (Property Casualty).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven ability to manage broker relationships, negotiate, and influence.
- A track record of effective portfolio management.
- CIP designation or progress towards it.
- High professionalism, integrity, accountability, and reliability.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and proven problem-solving abilities.
- Critical thinking with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, highly organized, and proactive.
Preferred :
- Post-Secondary Education.
- Established relationships with mid to large size national brokers and MGAs.
- Experience with specialized / niche / ancillary insurance products outside of Property Casualty.
