Our client is a Canadian multinational energy transportation company. They focus on the transportation, distribution, and generation of energy, primarily in North America.
They have a long history in the responsible development and reliable and safe operation of North American energy infrastructure.
They are one of the continent’s largest providers of gas storage and related services.
They are currently looking for a Project Accounting Advisor IV for their Edmonton, AB location.
Description :
Duties & Responsibilities :
The Senior Financial analyst should have project controls experience to prepare financial tools and models to meet the needs of a large-scale IT program.
The incumbent will have 7+ years of experience dealing with complex financial systems and working in cross functional teams, including : Working with project managers to develop forecasts and preparing financial reports.
- Monitor day-to-day, weekly and monthly financial outputs, including vendor, timesheet and labour variance reporting, tracking and forecasting capital and operating activities
- Working on forecasting and monthly close processes
- Ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations
- Assisting project teams with financial guidance
- Developing financial projections and building financial models.
- Producing and validating financial summaries and reports to Program Management, Stakeholders, Steering committee as required
- Liaise with various company departments, as required
MUST HAVE qualifications :
- CPA with minimum 7+ years of experience with progressively increasing responsibility in financial analysis, planning and reporting
- Demonstrated experience in Financial Analysis, Reporting and forecasting with expertise in financial analysis for programs and projects
- Demonstrated ability to develop complex financial models and reports, monitor day-to-day, weekly and monthly financial outputs
- Specific experience working on projects that have assets that cross country borders (US and Canada)
- Strong analytical and strong problem-solving skills -communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions
- Experience managing budgets and forecasts of over $50MM / year with multiyear duration and extreme level of complexity ( multiple funding sources, 100s of staff, assets crossing multiple countries, multiple financial systems, Hardware / software procurements, capitalization vs.
operating, multiple vendor and contracts, etc.)
- Experience with processing invoices and aligning Statement of Work / Contracts to cost
- Expert understanding of best management practices for project / cost control, forecasting and reporting. This also includes creating projects, transferring funds between projects in multiple currencies, and properly closing out projects once in-service for depreciation.
- Ability to design and implement processes for project cost control, identify gaps and correct where necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with the minimal level of supervision, while ensuring corporate financial deadlines are met
- Ability to work independently, with guidance only in only the most complex situations
- Expert level proficiency with Microsoft excel
- Proficient user of Oracle Cloud Financials

- Self-starter - requires minimal direction to accomplish goals
- Strong team player collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources.
- Experience working with others on a global basis
- Proficient in the use of SAP Financials
Working Conditions :
Indicate if Travel / OT / On-call is required. Standard office hours, on-site in Edmonton, Calgary(preferred) or Edmonton.
