Reporting to the Supervisor of Terminals & Pipelines, the incumbent will be responsible for the end-to-end recording, reporting, and analysis for a business unit results including accurate and efficient completion of monthly accounting records.
This includes journal entries, invoicing, results reports, and account reconciliations as well as investigation and documentation of variances between actual and forecasted results.
This individual should have a strong attention to detail and understanding of accounting standards impacting the oil and gas industry.
What You'll Be Doing
- Compilation, analysis, reconciliation, and distribution of monthly operating results package.
- Prepare general ledger journal entries based on monthly, quarterly, and annual requirements.
- Preparation and validation of annualized budget and monthly forecasts for the business unit.
- Develop and maintain accounting models to streamline accounting process and support further automation of manual processes.
- Work collaboratively with other business units and functions to ensure reliability of financial results.
- Evaluation and communication of financial results and operational data and analysis.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with audit queries received from external and internal auditors.
- Participates in the testing and implementation of new system releases.
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date desk training manuals.
- Responsibility to ad hoc reporting and analysis.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent degree
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience
- Currently holding a CPA designation or pursuit thereof is an asset
- Knowledge of the crude oil industry is an asset.
- Experience in the use of relational database systems and proficient with Windows-based applications including Excel, Word and database software.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset
- Process improvement mindset with the ability to follow through with implementation.
- Ability to effectively interact with individuals within the company in the Calgary and field offices.
