Purpose
To provide strategic leadership for the Mineral Resource (MR) department of Lion One. The incumbent is responsible for planning, monitoring, reporting and delivery of all MR activities.
The key objective of the role is to increase the value of the mineral resource asset through improved utilisation, resource growth, discovery, or acquisition / divestment.
Key Accountabilities or Activities
Manage the delivery of approved work programs
Manage work allocation to ensure resource replenishment
Human Resources recruitment, training and succession planning
Orebody knowledge and mineral system studies
Implement business improvement programs
Mine reconciliation
Production reporting
Wireframe and block model development

Position Required Capabilities
Skills :
Solid experience in the use of mining and database software
Deswik and Leapfrog preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to produce technical procedures and documentation
Ability to schedule and prioritise tasks.
Demonstrate leadership in the Safety culture.
Excellent personnel management
Knowledge :
Proficient in Block model generation and estimation techniques
Good practical understanding of Drilling and Mining methods
Excellent knowledge of reconciliation techniques
Sound understanding of QAQC, sampling methods and theory
Good practical understanding of underground Mine Geology
Database Management and verification
Maintain current understanding on industry technical
Experience :
Minimum of 5+years industry experience covering underground mine geology
Experience with narrow vein underground gold deposits preferred
Experience in foreign developing world environments preferred
Education, Qualifications, Tickets, Licences :
Degree in Geology
Current manual driver’s licence
Membership of an acceptable professional organisation
