Senior Accountant
Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team in Red Deer. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and motivated individual capable of managing multiple divisions, providing timely and accurate financial information to the divisional and regional controller in compliance with month end and regulatory timelines.
Your success will be defined by your ability to :
- Maintain the integrity and timeliness of the underlying accounting records for assigned divisions.
- Perform required monthly balance sheet account reconciliations complete with supporting documentation, includes but not limited to inventory allocations, prepaid expense, capital asset continuity schedules, disposal ticket accruals and cost allocations.
- Prepare and post journal entries into Sage 300 including intercompany journal entries.
- Assist divisional controller with cost analysis with variance explanations to budget.
- Prepare GST for assigned divisions, monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Provide support to accounting technicians - including but not limited to accounts receivables and accounts payables.
- Support the external audit process providing documentation as requested.
- Ensure the financial and accounting policies are followed and comply with IFRS.
- Engage in continuous improvement to the accounting processes, and reporting function.
- Perform other financial and reporting requirements as needed.
Your strengths include :
- CPA designation or working towards CPA designation with a degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
- Must have experience with Sage 300 or a similar enterprise management and accounting application.
- Experience in the transportation and / or environmental / waste services industries as well as with Trux and / or Navusoft Business Solution Software would be considered an asset.
- Advanced computer skills in all office programs Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and willingness to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks and projects.
- Proven ability to work independently while being a team player.
