Casual Food Service Workers provide wholesome and nutritious meals for young persons in secure custody and adult offenders within a correctional centre.
Casuals are required to cover shifts when permanent Food Service Workers are on leave or there is a requirement for additional staffing.
Duties will include :
- preparing, cooking, and serving food for clients, staff, Prince County Correctional Facility and special events;
- conducting clean-up for all meals;
- preparing special diets according to prescribed menus;
- supervising and instructing offenders assigned to the kitchen for food preparation and cleaning duties;
monitoring the movement of kitchen supplies inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining kitchen and unit food
inventory;
ensuring sanitization practices are followed according to code and adhering to Occupational Health and Safety
- standards;
- assisting in planning menus;
- ensuring dining room and kitchen are secure between meals and at the end of each shift;
- providing learning opportunities for young persons interested in obtaining life skills in the food preparation industry;
- providing supports to other divisional programs as required;
