Your Opportunity :

The Concurrent Disorders Enhanced Service within the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program at the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury provides care and treatment for those individuals experiencing both a severe mental illness and a severe addictions disorder.

The Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) / Registered Nurse (RN) Concurrent Disorders will report directly to a Unit Manager, and you will provide a broad range of services primarily focused on supporting clients with a concurrent disorder.

The RPN / RN will be working within a client-centered treatment approach and will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team, with due consideration provided for family and appropriate others.

The RPN / RN will also ensure effective operation of the unit when assuming designated responsibilities and contribute to the learning experience of students, staff and patients.

Description :

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability.

You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.

You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.PLEASE NOTE : Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $ - $ Upon being entered into the register of Registered Psychiatric Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in accordance with AHS / UNA Article or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications :

Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications :

RN or RPN - Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA), or active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) will be accepted.

Experience in mental health and addictions, leadership, observation and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a psychiatric and rehabilitation setting are essential.
