POSITION DESCRIPTION

Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer reports to the CEO of Groupe Touchette and is a member of the Groupe Touchette’s Steering Committee.

The COO will work very closely with both Co-Owners Nicolas Touchette and Frederic Bouthillier.

The Chief Operating Officer scope encompasses the end-to-end ownership of the entire value chain, including the management of 4 direct reports Marketing and Merchandising (MM), Supply Chain, Sales and Business Development as well as Customer Experience.

Mission of the position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) has the responsibility to oversee and optimize the entire end-to-end value chain operations of the Groupe Touchette organization on a global scale to grow the business significantly over the next three years.

The role involves managing the flow of goods, services, and information from the point of origin (ie. supplier) to the point of ultimate delivery (ie.

to customer), ensuring efficient and effective processes across various functions.

  • The COO contributes to the definition of the business strategy in the fast-growing, cyclical business environment.
  • The COO plays a critical role for the future of Groupe Touchette with a focus on the distribution business including adherence to and support of sustainability goals within global operations.
  • The COO is an empathic leader who can inspire, motivate, engage and empower people for efficient collaboration and delivering high-performance.

The COO will support and take responsibility for the development and empowerment of the leadership team to make effective decisions and optimize their respective functional groups in a way that drives profitable growth.

Principal accountabilities

Revenue Growth

  • Shaping the distribution model by supporting collaboration across channels / segments to strengthen and grow revenue.
  • Cultivate sales excellence to ensure teams deliver exceptional service to customers at all times, respond to challenges swiftly and anticipate changing market demands.

Operational Supply Chain Excellence

  • Continuously evolve and optimize end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution to respond to changing market conditions.
  • Optimize supply chain processes to minimize costs, reduce lead times, and enhance overall efficiency.

Marketing and Merchandising

  • Lead marketing and merchandising teams to ensure operational strategies are aligned with customer demands and market trends.
  • Leverage learning and collaboration across markets and geographies to improve efficiencies.

Logistics and Distribution

Lead end-to-end global logistics, from first mile to last mile transportation, ensuring a full integration of processes with the manufacturers and the customers, creating enduring business value for all partners.

Ensure effective execution through the Supply Chain team.

Enhance distribution strategies to optimized inventory, and turnover driving profitability.

Strategic Execution

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the Groupe Touchette’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Translate long-term business plans into actionable operational plans, ensuring efficient resource allocation and execution.
  • Optimize capital investments by fostering cross-functional collaboration, implementing new approaches to grow revenue cultivating positive manufacturer and customer relationships and enhancing the overall value GT provides to the market.

Process Optimization

  • Encourage an environment that is always seeking to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, or value creation - implement changes that maximize the value of these new opportunities.
  • Takes action to ensure effective streamline of operations, eliminate bottlenecks, and enhance productivity to achieve operational excellence.

Technology Integration and Innovation

  • Identify and implement technology solutions that drive operational efficiency, including automation, AI, and data analytics.
  • Foster a culture of innovation by exploring new technologies to improve processes and enhance customer experiences.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Provide strong leadership to operational teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Empower leaders to make optimized decisions, challenge teams to identify opportunities to optimize processes, and work across groups to deliver the best value for customers and manufacturers.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Chief Operating Officer

Education :

University degree / higher education in Business Administration / Supply Chain and further education in Finance.

Languages :

Fluent in English, able to work in French and any other languages will be a plus.

Place of work :

  • Montreal, Canada, minimum 25% travel.
  • Home Office possible (1 day / week).

Professional skills and qualifications

International end-to-end transportation and supply chain operations leadership and transformation / integration experience (modern methods and KPIs monitoring in low margin business);

enabling growth (organic and M&A) with leading edge technology innovation; understanding / affinity to automotive and tire distribution industry.

Integrated end-to-end value chain functional expertise with strong planning skills (sourcing, supplier development; logistics, warehouse, distribution;

demand planning / forecasting; inventory management; S&OP).

  • Complex process, project, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Technology, digitalization, and SC Tools affinity (ERP / SAP, modern emerging SC / Warehouse software and tools, master data and data analytics)
  • Solid understanding of customer-focused value proposition and marketing and merchandising activities.
