The Opportunity :
Our client is looking for someone to champion and improve the operations of an established food processing facility.
Looking for a high-impact, team player; reporting to a VP, this position is primarily responsible for managing all production staff and activities in order to ensure that products meet or exceed the standards set for quality, cost, productivity and customer service.
This includes employee safety, product & packaging quality, line efficiencies and shop floor logistics including : production sequence, utilization of equipment, staffing levels, product costs, product run times, & operational capacity.
Accountabilities & Deliverables :
- Provide support and direction to all production staff in order to fulfill production requirements and improve efficiencies.
- Troubleshoot & resolve problems that arise within day to day production, ensure that the daily / weekly / monthly production requirements are met
- Drive change initiatives within the production team
- Assist in planning production and in altering the production schedule as required due to changes in customer requirements and production outputs
- Manage all labour relations issues for the production department
- Oversee the labour requirements to meet the production schedule
- Analyze the production reports produced in order to optimize production and labour efficiencies
- Plans and implements projects related to increased production and line efficiencies, labour efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and codes in all areas of plant including WSIB, HACCP, WHMIS, and Workplace Health & Safety
- Coaches and guides production team to drive continuous improvement throughout production.
- Tracks and manages production budget
Desired Competencies & Qualifications :
- A minimum 5+ years or Supervisory experience in Engineering, Production, Operaitons, Warehousing, Distribution. (Ideally Food OR Beverage Manufacturing)
- Post-secondary education in a related field an asset
- Hands-on and results oriented supervisory experience
- Ability to sustain excellent interpersonal and labour relations across cultural and ethnic diversity
- Strong written, verbal and computer skills
- Mechanical knowledge of process and packaging
- Developed and accomplished Continuous Improvement, Change Management and People Leadership skills
