Job Summary
The Molecular Diagnostics Specialist is responsible for performing analysis of Next Generation Sequencing and PCR samples according to established standards and day-to-day operations of the modality.
The Molecular Diagnostics Specialist has a solid customer focus and collaborates effectively with technical, medical staff, management, and internal and external clients.
The Molecular Diagnostics Specialist contributes to the hospital’s strategic goals by providing accurate and timely results and identifying opportunities for improvement for efficient workflow and continuous quality improvement.
The Molecular Diagnostics Specialist role models both professional and organizational core competencies.
Qualifications
- Graduate from a recognized Medical Laboratory Technology or Genetics Technology program and CSMLS certification as a General MLT or Clinical Genetics MLT
- Member in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
- Previous clinical laboratory experience or training in PCR and NGS - preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of good molecular lab practice
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem recognition and problem solving-skills
- Effective time management skills; ability to organize work and set priorities
- Strong data analysis and organizational skills
- Innovative and willing to learn
- Commitment to provide excellent customer service and teamwork
- Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office including Excel and Powerpoint

As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.
Successful candidates will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination (two doses) from the Ontario Ministry of Health website or other authorized source directly to the Occupational Health and Safety department.
