Position DescriptionWeston Park Baptist Church is a church in the heart of the Weston neighborhood which is a culturally and socio-economically diverse community in Toronto.
We are in an exciting process of growth and development as we transition to a new building while we continue to maintain a strong and active presence in the community.
Personal CharacteristicsThe Ministry Development Pastor would be described as an extrovert, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and demonstrating a builder personality;
one who supports the church family as it moves into a new era of ministry. The person is called to develop relationships with the church family.
General OverviewIn keeping with our mission to Receive Grace and Give Grace, the Ministry Development Pastorprimary role is to support - to motivate, inspire, engage members of the church to grow in their Christian walk and participate in service to the church and community.
The Ministry Development Pastor oversees the church's day-to-day operations to ensure things are running smoothly and supports the Senior Pastor.
Working closely with the Senior Pastor, the Ministry Development Pastor will drive the fulfillment of ministry priorities at the church.
This is accomplished primarily through : Offering oversight & support for programs and staff (except Senior Pastor).Engage & encourage members and participants in ministry opportunities.
Develop plans or strategies to keep the Church organized. Primary Responsibilities Engage and encourage : In the first six months this individual will cultivate relations with church members, staff informally and more formally through the establishment of small groups Visioning & Goal Setting : Alongside Deacons & Senior Pastor Continue to develop Goals for WPBCDevelop, update and implement goals and Strategic PlansMinistry Coordination : Facilitating communications and coordination between ministries, and ensuring alignment with overall visionOversight of staff performance, well-being and alignment (except Senior Pastor).
Identify, mobilize, disciple, and train new and existing leadersFacilitate opportunities for leadership development such as mentoring, modeling, retreats, online learning etcMaintain relevant Policies & Procedures that support effective ministries.
Manage logistics for moving the church to temporary facilities while the new building is under construction Professional Skills 3+ years of experience in a ministry or church environment or equivalentStrong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent teamwork orientation skills with peers, colleagues and volunteers.Participation in the life of a church communityBusiness or community experience combined with pastoral experience would be an assetEducation - Master's 's degree preferred with a minimum of four years leadership experience Qualifications Strong evidence of a Christ-centered lifeMeets the biblical qualifications for leadership.
