Operations Support Summer Student
Objective
The Operations Support Role is responsible for the support of several operational functions and performance for the quarries and gravel pits in the region.
They will be exposed to a variety of projects around the sites including (but not limited to) : front end support (scaling of trucks), site cleanup / painting, technical projects, administration, and data analysis.
A good overall performance could lead to larger technical roles in subsequent years.
Responsibilities
Relationships with Others Functions :
- Reports to the Plant Managers, Operations Managers and Operations Coordinator.
- Works closely with other Plant staff, Maintenance, Distribution, Quality, and Area Safety Staff
Other :
Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site.
Dependability :
- Follow instructions, work within a team setting, respond to Supervisor’s direction and communicate it with your team.
- Help to ensure crushing campaigns are completed safely within the forecasted times.
- Help organize and execute moving the crushing plant to new locations when crushing campaigns are complete.
- Have personal vehicle or other reliable transportation to be able to get yourself to site on time.
Safety Profile :
- Comply with OHSA and all of its applicable regulations.
- Wear all Personal Protective equipment as required.
- Strict compliance with Lafarge Canada safety rules, policies and procedures.
- Report all incidents, near misses and safety hazards to Supervisor.
- Emergency response plan awareness.
Qualification Profile
Currently enrolled in a College or University program
Knowledge & Skills :
- Good written and verbal communications
- Demonstrated time management and teamwork skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Excel
- Excellent knowledge of Google Suite applications
- Possess full G class license and access to a vehicle
- Bilingual in English and French an asset
Working Conditions and Physical Demands :
- Working outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions.
- Working indoors in varied conditions (i.e. hot, noisy, dusty).
- Mobility through all areas of the plant required, including stairs and ladders.
- Regular bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting less than 50 lbs.
