Position Overview :
As a Long-Term Care Worker, you will provide compassionate and high-quality care to residents in a long-term care facility.
You will play a vital role in supporting residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being while maintaining their dignity and promoting a safe and comfortable environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Resident Care : Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring their comfort and hygiene.
- Mobility Support : Help residents with mobility, including transferring, positioning, and using mobility aids, while prioritizing safety.
- Health Monitoring : Observe and report any changes in residents’ health, behavior, or needs to nursing staff.
- Meal Assistance : Support residents during mealtimes by serving food, assisting with feeding, and monitoring dietary needs.
- Social Engagement : Encourage and participate in recreational activities to promote residents' mental and emotional well-being.
- Housekeeping : Maintain a clean and organized living environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks, laundry, and sanitation.
- Medication Assistance : Support residents in taking prescribed medications under the supervision of licensed staff.
- Collaboration : Work closely with the healthcare team, families, and residents to develop and implement personalized care plans.
Qualifications :
- Completion of a recognized healthcare aide or long-term care worker training program.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to care for the elderly and individuals with complex needs.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, transferring, and assisting residents with mobility.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and infection control practices in healthcare settings.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience in a long-term care or healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic health monitoring techniques.
- Multilingual abilities to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Work Environment :
- Long-term care facility setting with a focus on providing a home-like atmosphere.
- Shifts may include weekends, holidays, and nights as required.
