As part of our expansion into Health Sciences, we are seeking a qualified and dedicated Health Care Assistant Program Coordinator to lead the delivery and ongoing success of the HCA Diploma Program.
Position Summary :
The Health Care Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring standards compliance, curriculum development and maintenance, and overall program delivery of the HCA Diploma Program. This role requires dedicated coordination time and may be combined with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or instructional role to support consistency and effective implementation of the program once approved.
The Program Coordinator plays a key leadership role in maintaining academic quality, regulatory compliance, and student success while working collaboratively with faculty, clinical partners, and administrative staff.
Key Responsibilities :
Program Leadership & Compliance :
- Ensure the HCA Diploma Program complies with PTIRU standards and HCA Program requirements.
- Maintain ongoing compliance with curriculum standards, learning outcomes, and regulatory updates.
- Support program approval, implementation, and continuous quality improvement.
Curriculum Development & Maintenance :
Oversee curriculum development, review, and updates to ensure alignment with industry standards and competencies.Ensure learning outcomes meet program objectives and workforce expectations.Coordinate instructional resources, course outlines, and assessment tools.Program Delivery & Coordination :
Coordinate overall program delivery, including theory, lab, and clinical components.Support instructors to ensure consistent, high-quality instruction and evaluation practices.Monitor student progression, academic performance, and program outcomes.Faculty & Stakeholder Collaboration :
Work cooperatively with instructors, clinical partners, and college staff.Leverage industry contacts to support clinical placements and graduate employment opportunities.Participate in faculty meetings, program reviews, and institutional initiatives.Instruction (Optional / Combined Role) :
When combined with an SME or Instructor role, deliver theory, lab, and / or clinical instruction as required.Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner.Teach and assess clinical skills during multi-level / complex care practicums , if applicable.Minimum Qualifications :
The Program Coordinator must meet the HCA Minimum Instructor Qualifications :
Current unrestricted full registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (e.g., Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent, or previous teaching experience with satisfactory evaluations).Minimum two (2) years of full-time Canadian nursing experience (1 year = 1,400 hours), with knowledge of :The Canadian health care system.Roles and responsibilities of the health care team.Current policies and procedures in residential and community care settingsEvidence of completion of Indigenous cultural safety and humility training (e.g., San’yas Anti-Racism Indigenous Cultural Safety Training or equivalent).Evidence of completion of the Health Care Assistant Practice in BC course (LearningHub) as part of onboarding.Job Type : Full-time
