Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Senior Manager, HR Governance & Administration will play a lead role in the development, and implementation of our HR Governance and Administration strategy, providing a sustainable framework to ensure compliance with all HR regulatory and legal obligations.

This includes both policy review and development, as well as process development and documentation, supported by robust change, communication, and education programs developed in collaboration with our Organizational Effectiveness and Talent teams.

In addition to creating policies and procedures, the Senior Manager is also responsible for regular compliance tracking, auditing, and reporting.

In this exciting role, the Senior Manager will lead the development and maintenance of policies and procedures relevant to Irving Oil’s HR Governance Program to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.

The incumbent will develop, periodically review and update policies and procedures to ensure continuing applicability and relevance for guidance to management and employees.

They will also conduct regular internal reviews to assess compliance to procedures.

The incumbent has the ability and experience to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, while developing and implementing corrective action plans for resolution of issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in legal or related field and has 7+ years of progressive HR experience possessing the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to drive strategic change.

They have a specialization in employment law or strong HR operational background for both Canadian and U.S legislation, and have familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, and human resources procedures and regulations.

They have excellent people management skills, with ability to attract, retain and develop exceptional talent. The incumbent has strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills with the ability to prioritize and demonstrate exceptional relationship building, customer service and communication skills.

They collaborate and work well in a team environment and leverage a flexible work style with excellent problem-solving skills.
