About the Role

The Housekeeper reports to the Support Services Manager and / or designate and performs all aspects of cleaning duties in the community to maintain the established standards for sanitation, cleanness, and safe work environment for all persons served.

Responsibilities

• Include but not limited to;
• Carries out all aspects of routine and rotation cleaning throughout the building and suites which include : dusting, vacuuming and sweeping;
• cleaning appliances; washing floors, walls, windows and doors; changing and making beds, removing curtains / window coverings for cleaning and re-hanging;

garbage removal; terminal cleaning of suites.

• Maintains a safe environment for residents, family and staff, through :
• accident prevention,
• knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations,
• the safe use of supplies and equipment and reporting when repairs are necessary
• keeps work area in an orderly, safe and clean condition
• keeps inventory in order on individual carts; replenishes supplies throughout the building, and
• Utilizing infection control procedures
• Reports significant changes or uncommon resident behaviour or concerns to nursing staff as required.
• Attends and participates in community and education programs.
• Required to work positively andcollaboratively with all team members and supervisors.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills :

• Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• WHMIS Certificate.
• First Aid Certificate as applicable.
• Free from communicable diseases and allergies or conditions which may be aggravated by working with cleaners, detergents, and equipment.
• Demonstrates collaborative and team working skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
• All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
• Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties of the position.
