The Emergency Department at the Peter Lougheed Centre is entering an exciting new chapter with the final phase of a brand-new, state-of-the-art emergency department nearing completion and planned to open at full capacity in early 2026. This expansion marks a significant milestone in Calgary’s healthcare landscape and brings the need for additional skilled and passionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our growing team. As one of Calgary’s largest urban emergency departments, we provide care to patients across the full spectrum of acuity. Responsibilities
- As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.
- You will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
- You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
- You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
- Please note : Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment : CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4) and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification. Current BLS - Heart and Stroke.Minimum two (2) years nursing experience obtained within the past 3 years working greater than 0.70 FTE in a Calgary or Edmonton Zone Dedicated Emergency Department.Trauma trained in a Calgary or Edmonton Zone Dedicated Emergency Department.Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.Triage trained in a Calgary Zone Emergency Department.Recent critical care experience (past 3 years, >0.50 FTE).
ENCP (within 4 years). TNCC (within 4 years). ACCN certification. ACLS (within 2 years). PALS (within 4 years).CTAS Certification. Up to date Annual Continuing Education. Quality Improvement experience. Connect Care Trained / Excellent Computer skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
