Can-Tech Services is looking for a Pipefitter for one of our reputable Food & Beverage Manufacturing clients in the Toronto area.

Our client is a multinational confectionery, food, and beverage company.

The position is a Full-Time and Permanent Position directly with the client.

The rate of pay is $40.04 per hour (Shift premium will be added)

Shift : Continental (Days / Nights)

Key Responsibilities :

  • The successful applicant will be responsible for lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair piping systems carrying water, steam, chemicals and fuel in heating, cooling, lubricating and other process piping systems.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements.
  • Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines.
  • Select type and size of pipe required.
  • Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools.
  • Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system.
  • Install supports, valves, piping and control systems.
  • Test system for leaks using testing equipment.
  • Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system.
  • Troubleshooting pipe, flow, etc. issues pertaining to production equipment and other systems.
  • Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system.
  • May prepare cost estimates for jobs.
  • Join pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment.
  • Be responsible to ensure compliance to food safety and HACCP principles for your respective area and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • A good working knowledge of both written and oral English as some documentation and report writing is required.
  • Completion of four to five year apprenticeship program.
  • Must posses a steam fitters license.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable ability to safely operate power tools and equipment basic math skills.
  • A good work and attendance record, and must be physically fit as lifting is involved.
  • Computer literacy and prior experience with PLC interface.
