Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas : Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse Weekend Coordinator to join our Palliative Home Care team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness. Please note that the primary location will be based out of Seventh Street Plaza and may be required to assist at other sites in the Edmonton Zone. This position requires a hours’ shift every Friday, Saturday and Sunday according to FTE. As a self-directed team member with Continuing Care in the Edmonton zone, the Registered Nurse Weekend Coordinator works collaboratively with the health care team and has responsibilities, including assessment of needs, delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals for client delivery, and evaluating outcomes. This position also entails program triaging during the day and will take a lead role in planning the workload for the weekends; includes liaising with Community Care Access to provide direct care in the community.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE : Provisional Permit holders will be paid $ - $ per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article or (ii) as applicable.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses : CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at

Palliative care experience is an asset.
Demonstrated leadership and / or management experience.
Must be able to work independently and within a team environment.
Triage experience. Must be able to cope with high levels of stress, fluctuating priorities, and time sensitive deadlines.
Experience with Connect Care 2 years current Case Management Experience in Continuing Care.
Experience with introducing new initiatives and working on change management.
