Material Coordinator
Job Description
Responsible for managing and coordinating the onsite laydown yard / s assigned for temporary access materials (primarily scaffolding), pre-planning work for labor crews (material handlers and operators), and overseeing safety procedures, quality of workmanship, production costs, and the morale and attitude of work crews.
The incumbent will play a key role in interfacing with the Sr. Access SME, Planner / Estimator and Labor Contractor.
The Material & Logistics Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of onsite laydown yard / s, material management and logistics under the client-agent relationship with the Purchaser.
The role shall work closely with the Planning Contractor’s Sr. Access SME and interface regularly with the Labor Contractor to provide supervision and coordination of the Planning Contractor’s onsite laydown area / s to ensure temporary access materials are delivered in accordance with safety, quality and schedule requirements.
Qualifications
- Responsible for pre-mobilization planning of material & logistics in conjunction with Sr. Access SME and Labor Contractor;
- Provides input and recommendations on requirements for temporary laydown areas, traffic management plans, and overall layout for safe and efficient material storage and handling;
- Implements designated procedures applicable to the storage, handling, loading / unloading, quality inspection, cleaning, repair and disposal of temporary access materials;
- Supervises and coordinates all material management in the Planning Contractor’s laydown area / s and assigns tasks & packing lists to Material Handlers & Operators in accordance with the agreed routine maintenance schedule and installation work packages developed by the Planning Contractor;
- Demonstrates leadership in the health, safety and environmental protection of all stakeholders across the project site and ensures compliance with OSHA standards, federal, state and local acts, legislation and the Purchaser’s policies and procedures;
- Prepares and documents all necessary site-specific Safety Risk Assessments for the Planning Contractor’s scope of work;
- Ensures the timely availability of materials to be available to the Labor Contractor for collection from the designated laydown yard / s;
- Manage material utilization and submit purchase order requests to the Purchaser for material if / when required;
- Verifies quantities after Material Handlers have staged material and ensure all components are accurate and QA / QC compliant prior to materials being delivered.
- Supervises the safe mobilization and demobilization of temporary access materials to / from the designated laydown area / s
- Ensures all material tracking data (packing lists, delivery / return tickets, etc.) are entered in the Hi-Vis® our scaffold management software.
