Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Competence from College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current CPR Certificate
• Minimum of two (2) years recent nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred with the ability to work to full scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Post-diploma perioperative certificate mandatory
• OR Scrub experience required
• Knowledge of equipment and instruments, setting surgical cases and responsibilities when scrubbed.
• Excellent physical assessment skills
• Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly comprehend the SurgiNet Information System and personal computer applications
• Ability to plan, organize and exercise effective decision making
• Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and function both independently and interdependently with the interprofessional care team
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education
• Ability to meet the physical demand of the position

Satisfactory performance appraisal in current position

• Recent Cardiac Arrhythmia course, or equivalent (current experience)
• BCLS
• Completion of IV Therapy course or equivalent
• Completion of IV Start course or equivalent
• Skilled in Medication Administration
• IV drug administration
• Experience with activation of CPOE
• Satisfactory Attendance if internal
• Commitment to Patient Care & Safety and Service Excellence
• Satisfactory vulnerable person’s sector criminal background check
• Must have and provide proof of full COVID-19 immunization (2 or more doses)
