Completions & Workovers Engineer
Detailed Job Description
The Completions & Workovers Engineer will work closely with the Manager, Drilling and Completions and associated asset teams to support projects related to development and production of unconventional hydrocarbons for PetroChina Canada.
Accountabilities :
The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to :
- Support the development and engineering oftechnical programs related to completions and workovers :
- Responsible to support the design, development and execution programming andplanning of horizontal tight reservoirwell completions, focusing on multi-stagefracture stimulation, logistics to optimize safety and efficiency, wellbore hydraulics, tubular / connections, instrumentation requirements, workoverdesigns and selection, and wellhead designs
- Identify and recommend new technology andopportunities for cost optimization without sacrificing program effectiveness
- Provide technical / engineering support for wellintervention programs and cost estimates
- Develop and support technical specifications,work scopes and evaluations for procurement packages for completion materialsand services and review quotations, bid packages and provide recommendationsfor awarding work
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams within theAsset and extended teams to support project development plans and execution
- Support, monitor, and interface with fieldoperations staff regarding the proposed completion design and provide guidanceand technical expertise to support well intervention work
- Monitor and manage program / projects budget,timelines, compliance and scope :
- Monitor the execution of field projects toensure compliance to company Policies and standards, Alberta OH&S, ERCB andAlberta Environment regulations
- Support and develop scope changes includingdocumentation and approval as required, and discuss with the appropriate teammembers
- Review cost and operational data and developend-of-project reports as required
- Review and manage quality and accuracy ofWellview completion data and reports
- Support SCM process as necessary includingcloseout activities
- Review, assist and report on all completionand workover activities :
- Ensure all completions materials equipment andservices are planned ahead and organized in advance of undertaking field work
- Review daily activity with Well Superintendentand for the coordination of daily morning completions meetings with teammembers
- Makeperiodic fieldtrips to review well activities with onsite operations staff and servicevendors
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- Professional Engineer designation with APEGA required
- 5+ years’ completions engineering experience with unconventional completions, workover and production operations
- Knowledge of and prior experience in SAGD operations an asset
- Dedicated to managing Health, Safety and Environment
- Strong understanding of applicable regulatory directives, standards and IRPs
- Well versed in and adaptable to learning computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft suite, Wellview and SAP
- Familiar with inputs / outputs for tubular stress analysis software
- Working knowledge of well abandonments an asset
- Ability to develop / administer various technical and cost reports
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
