Plaintiff Personal Injury Law Clerk, for mid-sized law firm client, downtown Toronto.

Target Compensation : From $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, and full benefits.

Regular Work Hours : FULL TIME HOURS; from 9 am to 5 pm (flexible), including 1 hour lunch break, Monday-Friday / 35.0 work hours per week.
Work Location : 100% onsite at client’s downtown Toronto office for initial training period of 4 weeks, then transitioning to hybrid model with minimum 2 days per week onsite.
Responsibilities Summary :
Provide legal administrative coordination and legal documents production services to personal injury team, supporting the senior lawyer.
Currently paper-based environment, that will transition into paperless department.
- Proactively offer assistance to colleagues and lawyers, backing up other administrative personnel as needed. Demonstrate a team attitude, with accountability and confidentiality to both internal and external clients to achieve goals of the Firm.
- Coordinate the practice including opening and maintaining files, maintaining calendar and bring forward dates, preparing routine correspondence, arranging meetings, scheduling discoveries and booking court appointments / hearings.
- Prepare, compile, serve and file affidavits, motion records, appeal records, depositions, pleadings and other court documents in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure, court forms and practice directions.
- Interviewing clients, witnesses and other parties.
- AB and Tort management on all files.
- Completion of OCF Forms for AB claims.
- Preparing and filing personal injury documents, arbitration forms and FSCO mediation forms.
- Monitoring statue of limitations.
- Receive and respond to client inquiries, conducting follow up as required.
- Obtain information and instructions from clients and forward them to lawyer.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, including maintenance of email accounts and managing bring forwards.
- Update and maintain client and matter lists.
- Maintain and organize files with a robust follow up system.
- Coordinate and monitor administrative functions to ensure work is completed accurately and within established time frames.
- Additional law clerk support services as required.
Qualifications :
Education : Law Clerk Diploma and / or ILCO Certification required, or equivalent discipline.
Preferred Work Experience : Approximately 4-5 years of experience in personal injury legal administration.
Preferred Sector Experience : Mid-sized law firm experience desirable.
Technical Requirements :
- Advanced proficiency in MS Word and Outlook (will be tested).
- Strong typing and proofreading and attention to detail (will be tested).
- Demonstrated understanding of Rules of Civil Procedure (may be tested).
- Usage of LEAP software is desirable.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, including advanced level business writing skills, excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and syntax, and polished, professional telephone manners.

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.

- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
