About The Opportunity

Working as an integral part of the Public Safety / Ta na wa Téy̓wilhay̓lhem Department, reporting directly to the Community Safety Team Lead , The Community Safety Team member’s role is to provide a pro-active, visible, preventive, and trauma-informed approach to community safety by supporting the day-to-day safety of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh people primarily, but not exclusively, living on-reserve (in community).

A critical part of this approach entails building trust and positive relations with and between Sḵwx̱wú7mesh people and different Nation divisions and departments, as well as with frontliners, the police, IFNU, and external municipal and district partners.

The CST are the eyes and ears of the community on public safety issues. The role requires good communication and interpersonal skills;

an ability to tactfully deal with the general public and with Sḵwx̱wú7mesh people; and an ability to provide guidance and information on safety and well-being matters with respect and diplomacy.

CST also provides support to the Emergency Planning and Response unit. CST provides coverage 7 days a week including evening, night, and weekend work as required.

Salary : $ 52,522 - $ 58231 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits program
