Assignment #1 will support Enchant School, Enchant AB, Hays School, Hays AB, and Chamberlain School, Grassy Lake, AB Assignment #2 will support Warner School, Warner AB and Milk River Elementary School and Erle Rivers High School in Milk River AB Please indicate which assignment you would like to be considered for.
The Family Connections Program is designed to provide an integrated service approach to meet the mental, social, physical, and emotional needs of the students and their families within Horizon School Division.
Duties and responsibilities of the position include : Development and delivery of evidence-based programming around preventative mental health through classroom presentations.
Liaise with other resources / agencies and make necessary referrals. Some summer work may be required. Development and implementation of group programs.
Work closely with schools and related agencies as part of networking efforts for service delivery. Coordinate Family Connection volunteers.
Travel to rural communities within the Horizon School Division boundaries will be required. The preferred candidate’s qualifications include : A university degree or two-year diploma in social sciences, or relevant courses and experience At least 3 years working experience in addiction and mental health, or health / human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered).
Knowledge of addiction and mental health is required. Creative problem-solving and decision-making skills Working knowledge of community agencies and supports.
Strong interpersonal skills. Experience in working with all age groups. Knowledge and understanding of the Low German Mennonite culture and language would be an asset.
Must be part of a college or regulatory body under the Health Professions Act or be eligible for registration with a governing body.
All professions must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties where applicable.
