MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Structural Design Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading structural engineering consulting firm that serves the commercial, residential, institutional, and educational sectors across North America and internationally. Known for their commitment to integrity and innovation, our client has built a reputation as one of Canada’s most trusted firms, delivering high-quality design solutions for a diverse range of projects including luxury homes, high-rise condominiums, mixed-use developments, and recreational facilities.

Job Summary

This full-time position is based in Vancouver, BC, and offers the opportunity for hands-on mentorship from senior team members to help the successful candidate quickly gain expertise in delivering complex projects. The Structural Design Engineer will work closely with the firm’s principals and will play a critical role in developing innovative and practical structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with architects and contractors to design elegant, efficient structural solutions.

Develop preliminary structural schematic designs and detailed component designs.

Perform engineering calculations for structural integrity and safety.

Contribute to the improvement of design processes, tools, and standards in collaboration with technical teams.

Conduct shop drawing reviews, site visits, and generate detailed reports.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficiency in Canadian Building & Material Design Standards, specifically for wood or concrete.

Experience working with multiple materials is an asset.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.

Enjoys working in a team environment and fosters collaborative, goal-aligned relationships.

Training & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Structural Engineering.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in wood or concrete structural design.

Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.
