Industrial Gas Users Association (IGUA)

Founded in 1973, the Industrial Gas Users Association (IGUA) represents the largest industrial users of natural gas in Ontario and Quebec.

Membership spans across mining, metals, petrochemicals, chemicals, forest products, and manufacturing sectors. IGUA is an effective intervenor for the industry at regulatory hearings related to natural gas at the Ontario Energy Board, the Régie de l’énergie, and the Canadian Energy Regulator.

IGUA advocates with provincial and federal governments on policy issues that impact reliable access to natural gas at a competitive price.

It is with this context that the IGUA is seeking an exceptional leader and strategist as its next President to lead the organization and be a dynamic advocate on behalf of industrial gas users.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the IGUA President will be responsible for developing and implementing action plans that align with member priorities and for promoting the importance of industrial competitiveness during energy transition including continued access to a reliable supply of natural gas at a fair and competitive price.

Acting on behalf of IGUA members, the President will monitor developments in public policy that affect industrial gas users to ensure industrial energy consumers have a prominent voice in determining the trajectory of energy transition.

The President will provide input into the development of regulations and deliver factual information and the opinion of industrial gas users on public policy issues.

The President will maintain critical liaison with IGUA members, government agencies and departments, representatives from other stakeholder industries, and related national and international partners.

The President will focus on building close alignment with associations representing large power consumers to ensure coherent input to policy makers and regulators.

The President will lead the organization in carrying out special programs or initiatives, as may be established by the Board of Directors.

As an ideal candidate, you are a skilled leader with experience guiding organizations towards ambitious goals. You understand the decision-making processes of provincial and federal governments and have experience working with a Board of Directors.

As a manager and leader, you are team-oriented, resourceful, inclusive, and committed to the mentorship and professional development of a small staff.

Colleagues value your strategic perspective and proactive approach, and regularly call on you for advice on all matters requiring a sophisticated advocacy lens.

At the Board table, you are an active and engaged participant, voicing concerns, sharing ideas, and proactively providing options for the members to consider.

Bilingualism (English / French) would be considered a highly desirable asset for this role.
