The Manitoba Heavy Construction Association (MHCA) is recruiting a Manager of Finance & Human Resources (HR) ( the Manager’) to join the team.
The Manager plays a pivotal role in the organization by overseeing budgeting, financial accountability, payroll, HR and supports Board governance.
Working closely with and reporting through the President & CEO to the MHCA Executive Committee and Board of Directors, this position influences all aspects of the MHCA organization.
Those include its programs and affiliations : MHCA WORKSAFELY® Program; Manitoba Heavy Construction Vocational Training Academy (MHCTA), SAFE Roads Committee;
and the Western Canada Roadbuilders & Heavy Construction Association (WCR&HCA). As keeper of financial and HR records and acting as corporate secretary, the Manager provides trusted critical advice and support to all MHCA areas of engagement.
The Manager of Finance & Administration is Responsible For :
- Focusing on financial sustainability and asset protection, providing financial advice and written reports to the President & CEO, the MHCA Executive and Board on an ongoing basis.
- Preparing and distributing monthly financial statements and accounts receivable statements, administering expense allocations, and liaising with auditors.
- Overseeing membership invoicing.
- Ensuring accurate payroll, GST, and timely accounts payable and receivable.
- Preparing annual budgets, reconciling project outcomes, and overseeing project contracts.
- Managing financial data entry, preparing monthly bank reconciliations for all organizations referenced above.
- Collaborates with colleague managers; supervises support staff.
- Attending Executive and Board meetings of organizations noted above; with the President & CEO preparing and distributing related agendas, meeting materials including meeting minutes;
- managing minute books; addressing legal matters related to annual meetings and corporate returns; managing related correspondence;
and maintaining accurate filing systems.
- Oversee major asset procurement including meetings with vendors, negotiating contracts and ongoing vendor reviews.
- Maintains in strict confidence, payroll records, employee files, and administration of group benefits.
- With the President & CEO, reviewing employee contracts, facilitating onboarding, providing HR guidance, handling confidential employee correspondence, and ensuring compliance with labor legislation and regulations.
- Organizing staff vacation schedules, managing timesheet records, and related HR documents.
- Such other areas in support of the above as may arise, or as directed by the President & CEO.
You and Your Experience :
- Embody the values of honesty, integrity and character; bondable.
- 3-5 years of demonstrated related experience in a similar role.
- Educational background in accounting, business, human resources, management, or equivalent.
- Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, working with a Board of Directors, and strategic planning.
- Strong team player with a track record of building relationships; adept at prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional time management skillsets.
