Junior Mechanical Engineer

Acero Engineering Inc. (“Acero”), a dynamic company providing engineering, procurement and construction management expertise to the Oil and Gas industry is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill a role as a Junior Mechanical Engineer / EIT.

Acero is focused on facility and pipeline engineering, procurement and construction management services; from concept evaluation to plant start-up. Our core service offering is in-house project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering, project engineering, procurement, regulatory services, civil and structural engineering, and construction management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical data sheets for mechanical equipment & packages in accordance with the project specifications
• Have a strong aptitude for piping and / or pipeline and equipment specifications
• Have a solid understanding of P&IDs, isometrics, line lists and similar deliverables
• Daily usage of codes, standards and specifications pertaining to oil and gas industry equipment, vessels, pipe, etc. This includes, but is not limited to : ASME, ANSI, CSA, API.
• Produce and review documents, design reports, design calculations and drawings in accordance with engineering quality standards and client requirements
• Review the technical data sheets for oil and gas equipment packages; technical selection, calculation, sizing and evaluation of packaged equipment
• Participate in client / vendor / contractor meetings including HAZOPS, model reviews and design reviews
• Assist with mechanical bid evaluations for equipment
• Assist with project schedules, engineering manhour estimates, and cost estimates
• Request vendor information, compile and distribute RFQs, evaluate quotes, and recommend purchase awards
• Assist with the preparation and review of scope documents, reports, DBMs, PEPs, project kickoff documentation, etc.
• Understand regulatory codes and the implication on Acero’s design (e.g. spacing)
• Understand and participate in squad checks
• Other tasks / responsibilities, as required
