Salary : At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees.

The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range : $63,000 - $78,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing financial accounting entries and reconciliations, and reports for the investments of The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company.
They also prepare the accounting entries and assist in the Financial Statement preparation for The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company Employees' Pension Plan.
Job responsibilities
- Prepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations required for investment accounting of The Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company
- Prepares investments financial statement note disclosures ensuring compliance with IFRS standards
- Prepares reports and analysis for internal financial reporting purposes.
- Supports process improvement, modernization, and automation initiatives
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completed post-secondary education.
- Enrolment in CPA (or equivalent) or CFA Charter.
- Minimum 2-3 years of recent related experience in accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality work within tight timelines.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of MS Excel.
- Effective team player.
- Experience with investment accounting or investment operations are assets.
