Tasks

  • Determine type of glass, frames and material required
  • Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
  • Measure, mark and cut glass
  • Position and secure panes in frame
  • Prepare tenders and quotations
  • Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products
  • Install door, window and other hardware
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Prepare shop drawings
  • Repair glass doors and other glass structures
  • Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment
  • Supervise other workers
  • Transport cases of glass
  • Estimate costs and materials
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
  • Work from man-lift mobile equipment, cranes and other lifting equipment

  • Recruits Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives (for example : job fairs, outreach programs etc.)
  • Assists with immediate transition needs of Veterans (for example : relocation, housing, etc.)
  • Offers workshops, counselling services or other resources to help Veterans navigate their transition into the civilian workforce (for example : adapting to different organizational structures)
