POSITION SCOPE : Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse / LPN provides direct, non-invasive routine resident care, maintains a clean and sanitary environment, supports leisure and independence promoting programs, and performs other related work as required.

CCAs will work within the NSAHO Scope of Practice (June 1, 2009).ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES : 1. Participate in the implementation of organizational goals.

Carries out tasks and daily work following the policy and procedures, and the job performance standards of Gables Lodge / Centennial Villa Functions as a team member to provide for quality resident care.

2. Is knowledgeable of the All Hazard Emergency Plan and aware of own responsibilities in emergency situations.3. Is responsible for the residents' personal care, which includes : resident hygiene needs, and all or any activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, mobility, transferring, positioning, nutritional needs, elimination, etc.

4. Observes the residents in their care and is aware of physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs of the resident.

Reports issues, changes in resident behavior, and condition, to the Charge Nurse or Unit Manager, and documents the changes according to facility policy and procedures.

5. Is responsible to complete vital signs and weights as assigned, assist in restorative care-i.e. walking, range of motion, etc.

and assist residents with special needs.6. Complete tasks following policies and procedures pertaining to safety, environmental and infection control practices, and works in a safe manner so as to protect themselves, their co-workers, and the residents.

7. Uses safety equipment such as resident lifts as required. Recognizes and responds to the needs of residents at risk i.

e. wandering, choking, falls, etc.8. Complete all documentation and charting on the resident files, incident reports, restraint sheets, bowel sheets, etc.

according to facility policy and procedure.9. Maintains confidentiality concerning resident, employee, organizational data, and facility information.

10. Reports to work as scheduled (at the beginning of the shift and at break times.)11. Cooperate with fellow employees and managers, responds appropriately to supervision, and promotes a positive atmosphere for residents, co- workers, visitors, etc.

Acts as a resource for fellow employees and assists in the orientation of new employees. Participates in the process of ongoing self-evaluation, and identifies goals / areas for development on performance appraisals.

12. Participates in relevant continuing education and applies principles that have been learned.13. Attends meetings as required, and has opportunity to participate on committees.

14. Must recognize own level of functioning, and seek direction when necessary. Must be able to follow directions on a daily basis, as well as during emergency situations.

15. Projects a positive professional image.16. Performs other related duties as required, or assigned by the Charge Nurse or designate.
