Lead SDET - Remote

Position Description

Emtec is seeking a Lead SDET to join our team on a full-time basis. This role offers the opportunity to be part of an automation testing team supporting BDD Framework(Karate), Springboot, Kafka, Azure and DevOps.

Our team is currently in the process of building a test framework and developing test cases using cutting-edge technologies and protocols, including BDD(Karate), GraphQL, Kafka, and front-end testing.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Selenium, BDD(Karate), or any other Java-based test frameworks, Rest APIs, UI automation, and experience with performance testing.

In addition to strong hands-on technical skills, we are also looking for someone who is comfortable interacting at the customer level, and is able to effectively communicate / collaborate with development teams to advocate the test patterns and guide them on technical strategy and test automation goals.

Core technology Stack : The core technology stack for this position encompasses a wide range of technologies, including Selenium, BDD(Karate), or any other Java-based test framework, Rest API, UI automation, performance testing tools, Cypress, GraphQL, Kafka, and front-end testing.

Additionally, effective communication skills are essential for this role since you will be involved in requirements gathering, and translating business requirements into automation scenarios.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

• As an SDET, you partner with software developers to create and code tests concurrently with product development.
• You will get to build tools that help developers be more productive and write better code.
• You will own the design and implementation of key components that will help in end-to-end quality of major deliverables and enable automated user acceptance.
• You will be involved in requirements gathering, and translating business requirements into automation scenarios.
• You will be working with a blended team in both North America and offshore.
• Leading the team and collaborating with development teams to advocate test patterns and guide them ontechnical strategy and test automation goals.

Must Have Skills :

• 10+ years of overall IT experience
• Coding experience in Java or Python
• Highly experienced with automation of API and web / mobile apps across platforms
• Web service automation experience
• Excellent handle on UI automation using Page Objects & Domain Driven design
• Relational database experience and NoSQL DB exposure
• Continuous integration experience with systems like Jenkins, Circle CI or Gitlab pipelines
• Good understanding of the latest trends in DevOps and Continuous testing
• Experience with ticket tracking systems, Agile workflows and testing systems such as Jira
• Extensive knowledge in creating test plans for complex software and integration projects
• Familiar with the testing pyramid and how to achieve an ideal mix of testing granularity

Preferred Skills :

• Experience with incorporating Gherkin language and BDD into manifold automation framework
• Exposure to Springboot web services and basic understanding of Kubernetes
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field
• Prior experience working in a client facing project
