Lead Structural Engineer

Position Overview

Power Your Future with Qualus in our T&D Canada business as a Lead Structural Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. Responsibilities

• Act as the Structural Lead and Professional of Record on Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects
• Provide structural design, technical support and quality assurance / quality control review including calculations, design, design drawing reviews from conceptual level to detailed design for substation facilities, including equipment support structures and footings, transmission towers & poles and control room and indoor GIS switchgear buildings
• Perform structural modeling using software such as SAP2000, LPILE, SAFE, and MathCAD
• Preparation and review of detailed design documents including design basis, design reports, design plans, construction specifications, field review plans and reports
• Review of vendor documents against specifications
• Respond to requests from construction sites and complete project documentation, including as‑builts, calculations, and returning data to clients
• Coordinate and oversee the development of project resource planning, scope, schedule, and budget for a structural discipline project team
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners; present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients
• Direct and / or participate in client meetings / job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data
• Mentor and develop less experienced engineering team members
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery
