Contracts Specialist

Exciting Opportunity Alert! Our client in Ottawa is actively seeking a dynamic Contracts Specialist to join their team on a full-time basis on a 1 year contract.

The Contracts Specialist responsibilities include negotiating contracts and budgets, overseeing clinical site payments, maintaining communication, managing financial data, and ensuring compliance with study expenditures.

The ideal candidate should possess a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Information Systems, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in contracting and contract negotiations, including skill in redlining documents (Direct knowledge of Clinical Contracting preferred).

Experience with SAP and Oracle CSP is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Negotiating contracts and budgets with research sites, ensure contracts are written in accordance to the associated client and regulatory protocols, obtain necessary approvals from senior management for clinical agreements.
• Handling and oversite of Clinical site payments / financials associated with Clinical studies.

Clinical Contracting :

• In compliance with Company policies and in accordance with applicable regulations as well as maintaining the direction of client's Legal Department, negotiate with research sites.
• Write technical contract language covering such items as indemnification, subject injury language, intellectual property rights, confidentiality, and other similar matters;

together with negotiating fair and compliant budgets based on study protocol.

• Analyze and resolve differences in contract interpretations between the client and sites, and resolve conflicts as necessary.
• Obtain necessary approvals for contractual documents by senior management.
• Maintain communication of negotiation status using Company IT systems.
• Meet study site activation timelines utilizing effective negotiations skills which results in signed executable agreements.

Clinical payments :

In accordance with Company policy and Accounting practices ensure the integrity of clinical financial data within the clinical database as well in clinical files.

Responsible for entering, reviewing, verifying and organizing incoming financial data.

• Enters financial data into Company systems utilizing Oracle CSP and SAP programs
• Verifies accuracy of invoicing and other accounting documents or records for sites
• Submit invoices to accounts payable for processing
• Monitors study expenditures and terms of contracts to ensure compliance with study design
• Send payment letters and correspondence to the site to request invoices
• Serve as the primary contact for sites regarding reimbursement issues

Qualifications & Skills :

• Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
• Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Information Systems
• Minimum 2 years Contracting, Contracting Negotiations / Skill in redlining documents (Direct knowledge of Clinical Contracting preferred)
• Experience with MS Office
• Experience with SAP, Oracle CSP preferred
• Excellent Communications skills, both oral and written
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members and to work independently
• Propensity for continuous learning
• Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills.
