Administration Manager
Scarborough Community Legal Services (SCLS)is a nonprofit community based legal clinic primarily funded byLegal Aid Ontario.
We provide clinic law services to low incomeindividuals in a culturally diverse community. Our work includesindividual case work public legal education law reform andcommunity development activities mainly in the areas of tenantsrights income maintenance law immigration law and workersrights.
We are seeking an Administration Managerto join our team. This position reports to the Executive Directorengages in work with our Board of Directors and has three to fivedirect reports.
Duties andResponsibilities
Management& Human Resources Responsibilities
Supervise Administration Team staff
Discuss andevaluate performance of existing administration staff and interviewand hire new employees
Issue discipline underthe Collective Agreement up to and including preparing and filingdisciplinary letters issuing suspensions and recommendingtermination to the Board of Directors
Respond toand resolve employee and client complaints regarding administrationstaff
Maintain Clinic employee personnelrecords
Approve Clinic employee leaverequests
Assign administrative tasks toAdministration Team staff
Work in collaborationwith the Executive Director to manage the Clinics budget andforecast the impact of changes to funding and workingconditions
Develop and implement Clinic policiesin collaboration with the Executive Director including humanresources policies and procedures
Attend Boardof Directors meetings and Board committee meetings advise the Boardon administration matters and prepare minutes of Board andCommittee meetings
Participate in Unionrelatedmanagement committee meetings and collectivebargaining
Communicate with Legal Aid Ontarioregarding funding and other issues

Manage officeoperations
Find and implement solutionsregarding office administration issues
Resolvetechnical problems and assist in resolving ITissues
Ensure efficient administration andcoordination of all Clinic services
Provideadministrative support to the Board of Directors Executive Directorand other legal staff as necessary
Manage thewebsite and social media accounts
Manage thephone system and ensure reception is covered on a dailybasis
Qualifications andExperience
You have a minimum offive years experience managing an office. Experience working in anonprofit environment and experience working with large funders isan asset.
You have experience working with avolunteer Board of Directors.
You haveexperience in human resources. Experience managing in a unionizedenvironment is an asset.
You have experiencewith information technology systems and strong computerskills.
You have experience developing andimplementing effective workplace policies.
Youhave demonstrably strong organizational and communicationskills.
You have a commitment to social justiceand working for positive social change on issues that affect lowincome individuals and groups.
You have thestrong interpersonal skills that are needed to address the needs ofclients from a variety of social and culturalbackgrounds.
You have a collaborative workapproach and the ability to work well in a team basedenvironment.
Experience in community legalclinics is an asset.
Experience managingwebsites and social media is anasset.
Terms ofEmployment
This is a permanentfulltime position that offers a competitive benefits package andenrollment in the CAAT DB Plus pension plan.
Thesalary range is $72500 to $77000 commensurate with qualificationsand experience.
We have a Remote Work Policy thatpermits a hybrid work arrangement for this position aftercompletion of a probationary period.
