The Red Chris Mine Operations team is now recruiting for the position of Fleet Management Specialist with a competitive base salary between $, - $,.
The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies with consideration to internal equity.
We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, the Specialist oversees the Fleet management system including software, hardware, and dispatchers, to support Mining Supervisors and optimize mining production.
Troubleshooting, reporting, equipment hardware and software issues as needed. This nature of this role comparable to the scope of a Dispatch Engineer.
Accountabilities
Safety :

- Promote and maintain a culture of safe production’ by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures,

- Ensure all incidents, near miss and hazards are reported
Technical Accountabilities
- Effectively administer and maintain the computerised MineStar Fleet Management system including management of disk space, system set-up parameters and back-up of daily data to optimise all functions of the system.
- Oversee the operation of the MineStar system to identify trends, problems, inefficiencies or non-compliance with operating procedures.
- Provide materials movement, equipment utilisation and other production data to production planning or projects personnel on a daily, weekly or monthly basis or as otherwise required.
- Provide support for all personnel who utilise the MineStar system and Open Pit Engineer role projects.
- Support departmental improvement projects related to fleet management systems.
- Actively participate in all departmental activities, including skills training, departmental communications or tool-box meetings and other activities as required by supervisor.
- Ensure work-groups meet or exceed Newmont FRM safety requirements through monitoring of on-job OH&S standards / performance, and follow up on occupational health and safety issues.
Reporting Accountabilities
- Accurately record information for loading and dumping by validating shift data.
- Provide accurate reports to relevant parties. Provide Ad Hoc reports as required.
- Identifying trends in the data.
- Manage own database to total tones, operators name, quality of the material, cycle time, location, maintenance plan.
- Identify trends in variance between plans and actual performance.
- Contribute to performance improvement by monitoring and analyzing Minestar data, researching best practice in dispatch and determining improved methods of working.
People Accountabilities
- Foster a positive and productive working relationship between team members and with other departments on site
- Receive, prepare and relay work orders, information and messages to and from work crews, supervisors and technical personnel
- Engage the team to actively promote Hazard awareness and promote the reporting of near misses
- Display behaviour consistent with Newmont’s Code of Conduct
About You
Position requirements include, but are not limited to :
- A bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or equivalent experience with Fleet Management systems.
- Thorough knowledge of the BC Mines Act and Regulations is an asset
- Minimum 2-5 years experience in mining, preferably in a production or technical role in an open pit mining operation.
- High degree of competency in computer applications.
- Knowledge and experience with MineStar Fleet Management Mining System software and hardware, and MineStar reporting is required
- Experience with Power BI, Python, SQL is highly desired.
- Sound awareness of operational safety issues and an excellent personal safety record.
- The aspiration to advance within the organization and to work harmoniously as a team member.
- Enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to maintain direction and achieve work objectives with minimal supervision.
- A valid Class 5 Drivers License is required
