Library Caretaker - Cleaner
The Perth East Public Library is recruiting for one (1) Library Caretaker / Cleaner to assist with maintaining a safe and clean Library environment.
This part time permanent position will appeal to a motivated, detail oriented individual who enjoys cleaning.
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ), the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining standards of safety, cleanliness, general repair and attractiveness so that the Perth East Public Library ( PEPL ) is ready for use by the public and staff.
Key Responsibilities :
- Empties waste paper baskets and paper shredder containers;
- Empties recycling;
- Sweeps, vacuums, mops floors, dusts furniture and wipes counters;
- Cleans and disinfects washrooms, restocking toilet paper, paper towels and soap dispensers;
- Clean glass doors and sidelights;
- Notifies Library CEO when cleaning supplies need restocked;
- Ensures all equipment is operated safely;
- Identifies and eliminates or reports any suspected safety hazards or equipment failures to Library CEO;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills :
- Must be 15 years of age at minimum
- One (1) year experience in caretaking / cleaning services considered an asset;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Knowledge of cleaning methods / chemicals and safe work practices required;
- Ability to organize and take initiative;
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Position Details :
- Start Date : Immediate
- Hours of work : 5 hours / week typically Fridays or Sundays (during Library closure)
- Wage : Grade B : $16.55 - $19.26 / hour
