Overview :
Pembina Pipeline Corporation has an immediate opening for an Advisor, Safety in our Grande Prairie Alberta office supporting our pipeline assets.
This position reports to the Safety Supervisor (Central) in the Safety Business Unit, part of Pembina’s External Affairs, Legal and Sustainability Division.
Promoting Pembina’s Safety Culture Zero by Choice, the Safety Team is dedicated to delivering quality products and services by leading the enterprise-wide occupational health and safety, process safety, physical security, and emergency management programs, insurance program and Operations Management System governance.
The Safety team ensures compliance with all company, federal and local government health, safety, security and emergency management regulations and requirements ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, contractors, and communities.
The primary responsibility of this position is to work collaboratively with operations to implement and manage proactive prevention initiatives to further improve performance and ensure compliance with regulatory, industry, and corporate standards.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to :
- Champion safe, and cost-effective preventative and loss management approaches in day-to-day pipeline operations to minimize potential losses and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate policies, standards, procedures, practices, etc.
- Work collaboratively with operations management and staff to build a strong safety culture.
- Participate in / or review of hazard assessments for higher-risk activities such as confined space entry and on construction projects.
Provide on-site safety and assistance and ensure appropriate controls and resources are in place.
Assist in review, development, and documentation of field procedures to ensure Pembina’s operational activities meet regulatory and corporate requirements.
Provide field reviews to verify procedures are implemented as required.
- Perform or participate in various internal and / or external audits and reviews, including, but not limited to, ground disturbance, energy isolation, safety culture, etc.
- Participate actively in area safety meetings and provide regular presentations on Key Safety Topics . Follow up on the safety-related items identified at the meetings.
- Review and assist with incident investigations, reporting and follow up to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate updates and development of Safety Standards and Learnings from Incidents.
- Assist in the review, development and documentation of procedures and task analyses to ensure construction, maintenance and operational activities meet Pembina and regulatory requirements.
- Work with project managers to help establish and execute safety project inspection requirements and activities. Liaise with third party project safety inspectors and provide periodic safety project oversight.
- Serve as the field safety liaison for internal or external parties requiring field information or activities.

Qualifications :
- Minimum 5 years experience in pipeline operations or similar industries with transferrable skills
- Designation or completion of one of the following is an asset :
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (Canadian designation).
- Occupational Health and Safety Certificate(s).
- Occupational Health and Safety Diploma or Technical Certificates.
- Strong knowledge of applicable industry safety requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including those of OH&S (BC and Alberta), AER, CER, OGC and CSA.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including an ability to interface positively with the field, and project personnel.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and demonstrated aptitude working with other business-related computer programs and applications.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. You will also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
This position requires the successful candidate to reside within 100 km of the Grande Prairie office.
Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays
