Job Description
Seeking Category Manager to join our nonprofit client’s Procurement team. Hybrid working model 2 days onsite per week (various offices in major cities across Canada)

The successful candidate will work with internal clients to develop specifications for competitive sourcing (Request for Proposals, Request for Quotations) that will bring the best options and value, manage the sourcing process, and lead cross functional negotiations with suppliers. Duties :
Develop, coordinate, and oversee operational plans and processes for the procurement department, encompassing the establishment of sourcing arrangements on an enterprise-wide scale.
This includes managing negotiations with suppliers, fostering long-term partnerships with selected vendors, and tracking progress against established plans.
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships both internally and externally across the vendor community, government entities, stakeholders, and organizational leaders.
The goal is to enhance and advocate for procurement practices while ensuring compliance with vendor regulations.
- Strategically plan, develop, and oversee all activities related to competitive sourcing initiatives.
- Ensure effective negotiation, management, and monitoring of contracts to align with the organization's short- and long-term needs.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of all expenditures on goods and services within assigned client categories, regardless of whether they are currently under contract or managed by the Procurement team.
- Stay well-informed about the business needs of customers by actively participating in planning and update meetings. Facilitate early involvement in all sourcing initiatives, whether funded or not, and gather insights from the supply base to educate internal stakeholders on potential solutions.
- Contribute to the budgeting process by providing cost estimates for budgetary purposes and project approval before sourcing activities commence.
Additionally, aid in the early development of functional specifications to streamline the procurement process.
Requirements :
- Completion of post-secondary level education from a recognized academic institution, preferably a Business Degree (Business Administration, Materials Management, or related discipline).
- A Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), designation will be considered an asset.
- 5 years of related, progressive experience.
- Experience in complex procurement negotiations.
- Experience in procurement sourcing
- Knowledge of SAP Ariba (Contracts & Sourcing modules) would be ideal
